Tencent Public Welfare: Donate US $1 to Save Disabled Children in Syria

On the afternoon of January 1, 2018, the "Donate 1 US Dollar to Help Syrian Disabled Children" international aid project jointly launched by the Red Cross Foundation of China and LeZhu Charity Foundation, also known as the [1$] project, was launched at the "2018 LeZhu New Year Charity Concert" held at the Suzhou Culture and Art Center, marking the official launch of this global fundraising event.

Project introduction

Project background

Since the civil war broke out in Syria in 2011, Syria has been at war for more than six years. In what has been denounced as "the worst humanitarian disaster of the 21st century," more than 520,000 people lost their lives, 12 million people were displaced, and 6 million people relied on humanitarian assistance. Among them, more than 2.3 million children became refugees and were struggling on the verge of death.

Tens of thousands of children lost limbs in the war. Their innocent and carefree childhood has been baptized by war. In addition to peace, they long for a sound body, and they long to walk with two feet like normal people and write with their hands like normal people.

We hope that by donating 1 dollar per person, we can rescue war-injured children in Syria and help them get back on their feet and live with us in a world full of love.

Project purpose:

Provide free prosthetic limbs, rehabilitation training, and psychological assistance to Syrian children who lost limbs in the Syrian war.

Project measures:

With the assistance of the Syrian Red Crescent Society and cooperation with Syrian public welfare organizations, a new [Prosthetic Limb Center] has been established in Syria, which can provide services such as prosthetic limb manufacturing, prosthetic limb surgery, prosthetic limb installation, rehabilitation training, and psychological assistance.

Fundraising Goal:

10 million yuan, about 1.5 million US dollars.

Fundraising methods:

The initiative donors each donate US$1 (a US$1 donation is approximately equivalent to 6.66 yuan), and @(invite) three friends to participate together. The invitees also need to donate US$1, and @three friends again, and so on.

Remarks:

1. Taking into account the fluctuation of the US dollar exchange rate, our donation of 1 US dollar is approximately equivalent to 6.66 yuan;

2. To facilitate public donations, we set the donation option of 1 US dollar to 6.66 yuan;

3. The donation plan for this project is registered on the National Charity Information Disclosure Platform with the registration number 531000005000160090A17095.

Project significance:

1. Respond to the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s 19th National Congress and increase assistance to countries along the “Belt and Road”.

2. Promote "people-to-people charity diplomacy" and enhance China's "soft power" and influence in the world.

3. Love knows no borders. As a member of the world’s citizens, we actively carry forward the spirit of international humanitarianism, rescue Syrian war-injured children, help them get back on their feet, and live with us in a world of love.

Project Budget

Note: Any remaining budget funds will be used to install prosthetic limbs for Syrian children.
